The basic model was called a Nissan Stanza in the USA. They were good cars, but the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry were better. I think that when it went on sale, there was only a CA20S engine. I think a CA20E was used at a later date.

The “Bluebird Maxima” was simply called Maxima in the USA. It used a VG30E engine. My mom had one, and some of our friends had one, and we loved the special features it had. We also were very impressed with the V6 engine. However, we all spent a large amount of money repairing our cars. I believe the temperature under the hood of the car was the cause of many of our problems. I also suspect that the version sold in Japan would have cost even more money to repair. The U12 Maxima solved most of the problems found in the U11 Maxima.

Did the Japanese version get a robot voice? The version sold in the USA got a robot voice.

In 1987, there was a minor change in styling. The lights and wheels had a style change, but the rear window was not changed. The gauges did have a minor change. When introduced, the analog gauges had a grid backround, and later, the gauges did not.

The stereo was different in the American version, but it was still very good looking, and had many extra features.
